Description

A vintage manual laundry tool, also known as a laundry dolly, plunger, or agitator, designed for agitating clothing in a wash copper or tub. The tool features a bell-shaped head constructed from copper-plated metal, likely over a ferrous base. The head is designed with a perforated interior base plate and a ring of ventilation holes around the lower rim to create suction and water movement during use. The head is attached to a long, turned wooden handle via a metal collar at the apex. The side of the bell head displays an impressed oval mark containing the words TRADE MARK and a central monogram of stylised characters. Faint traces of the words MADE IN ENGLAND are visible above and below the oval mark.
