Lot 1394:
Description
A mid-20th-century novelty teapot of slip-cast earthenware construction, designed in the form of a traditional thatched cottage. The body features hand-painted polychrome decoration over a white ground, depicting black timber framing, yellow-paned windows, and green shrubbery at the base. The textured, brown-glazed thatched roof is divided horizontally, with the upper section serving as a removable lid. The spout and handle are moulded to resemble masonry chimneys with reddish-brown brick detailing. This style is characteristic of British cottageware produced by Staffordshire potteries such as Price Kensington or Keele Street Pottery. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior of the piece.
