Description
This novelty ceramic teapot is modelled in the form of a traditional half-timbered Tudor-style cottage, a style widely known as Cottage Ware. The design is highly characteristic of the Ye Olde Cottage pattern produced by British manufacturers such as Price Brothers and Price & Kensington. The piece is constructed from glazed earthenware and features a textured, overhanging thatched roof which forms the lid, while the spout and handle are integrated into the cottage structure. The decoration includes moulded and hand-painted details, featuring brown simulated timber framing against a white ground, lattice windows with dormers, and a central doorway. The base is finished in green with small painted floral accents in yellow, pink, and blue. No maker’s marks are visible on the body or the base of the item.
