A Shell-Work Decorated Wooden Trinket Box

A small, rectangular wooden souvenir trinket box, the exterior densely decorated with shell-work comprising a variety of specimens including cowries, turret shells, and orange-tinted bivalves. The box is constructed from softwood with a simple metal hinge, opening to reveal a plain wood interior with a dark brown, mesh-textured lining to the underside of the lid and a hardboard base. There are no visible maker’s marks or signatures present. A British one pound coin is shown in the images for scale.
