A Charlotte Rhead for Crown Ducal Art Deco Ribbed Pottery Jug, Pattern 2865

An Art Deco period earthenware jug produced by A.G. Richardson and Co. Ltd. under the Crown Ducal brand, designed by Charlotte Rhead. The vessel features a bulbous beehive form with horizontal ribbing throughout. It is decorated with a hand-painted botanical design in an autumnal palette of brown, orange, and yellow. The motif comprises large brown leaves and stylised circular flower heads with black dashed borders and vertical striped accents. The body is finished with a cream-coloured glaze and a light brown wash applied to the ribs. The underside is marked with a printed circular factory stamp featuring a crown, a central ribbon reading DUCAL, and text CROWN WARE MADE IN ENGLAND. It is also signed in dark pigment C Rhead and bears the handwritten pattern number 2865 and a decorator mark 11. A United Kingdom 50p coin is present for scale.
