A standard pattern British Army Other Ranks (OR) two-piece brass waist belt buckle for the Scots Guards. This service item features a female outer ring embossed with the regimental title SCOTS GUARDS and a decorative wreath of thistles at the base. The male central circular boss depicts the Star of the Order of the Thistle, featuring a central thistle motif surrounded by the motto Nemo Me Impune Lacessit (No one provokes me with impunity). The reverse is fitted with a standard hook-and-loop fastening mechanism. This style of locket clasp was a staple of the Guards Division dress uniform throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
