Antique Mahogany Hall Mirror and Shaving Vanity, Early 20th Century

An early 20th-century mahogany wall-mounted hall mirror, also known as a shaving or valet mirror. This functional piece is constructed from solid wood and features a distinctive arched top housing a bevelled glass mirror plate, which is held in place by metal clips. Below the mirror is an integral open-topped storage compartment or glove box with elegantly curved sides. The front of the box is decorated with a geometric diamond-shaped wooden appliqué centred with a rounded knob. The reverse is fitted with a metal suspension chain for wall mounting. This style of furniture was a staple of the Edwardian and early Art Deco periods, designed for use in a hallway or dressing area for daily grooming. 32cm x 22cm x 12cm.
