Description

A significant collection of seventeen items from the cargo of the Tek Sing shipwreck, which foundered in the South China Sea in 1822 and was recovered in 1999. The assemblage includes a variety of export porcelain and stoneware, featuring a large charger with concentric registers of block-printed characters, multiple blue and white bowls and dishes decorated with river scenes, lotus blossoms, and stylised phoenixes, a small unglazed stoneware jar, and a ceramic spoon. Many pieces bear the original Nagel Auctions Tek Sing Treasures inventory labels and stickers, alongside underglaze blue maker’s marks. The lot is accompanied by two reference volumes and several certificates of authenticity documenting the provenance and recovery. These objects provide a tangible link to the maritime trade of the Qing Dynasty. Largest charger diameter approximately 35cm; smallest dish diameter approximately 10cm.
