Description
This vintage coin bank is constructed from white porcelain with a high-gloss glaze. The circular, canteen-style body features colourful transfer-ware illustrations depicting the traditional nursery rhyme “Tom, Tom, the Piper’s Son”. The primary illustration shows the character Tom fleeing with a pig while being pursued by an older man, accompanied by the rhyme’s title in serif typography. The reverse side is decorated with a smaller secondary graphic of a whimsical chick wearing a blue waistcoat and red trousers. The bank is designed with a rectangular coin slot positioned on the side and a circular aperture at the base for coin retrieval. The base is fitted with a red plastic stopper embossed with the reference number 1027 and USA. This item is a classic example of mid-century nursery-themed children’s ware. Quantity: 1.
