Description

A diverse assembly of approximately 28 marine bivalve mollusc shells, primarily composed of common families including Cardiidae (cockles), Pectinidae (scallops), Ostreidae (oysters), and various Veneridae or Mactridae (clams). The cockle specimens exhibit prominent radial ribbing and heart-shaped profiles, while the scallop shells feature characteristic fan shapes with distinct auricles at the hinge. The oyster specimens are notably heavy-set with layered, calcified structures. These specimens are presented loose and unmounted on a neutral backing board. There are no original scientific collection labels or specific locality data provided; however, the lot is accompanied by a modern auction house tag from Darwin Auctioneers, marked “Lot 131” and dated “18th Feb 2024”. These species are generally common and do not fall under current CITES restrictions for trade. The primary material is natural shell.
