Boston Self Feeder No. 4 Mechanical Hand-Crank Pencil Sharpener, Circa 1950-1960

A mid-century industrial mechanical pencil sharpener produced by Boston, a brand of the Hunt Manufacturing Co. This heavy-duty office tool features a cast metal body with a grey textured finish and a central chrome-plated shavings receptacle. The front mechanism is a Self Feeder type, designed to automatically draw the pencil into the twin milling cutters, and features a rotating faceplate embossed with the instruction OIL REAR SLOTS. The BOSTON brand name is prominently embossed on the upper casing. The unit is fitted with a manual crank handle featuring an off-white plastic knob and a mounting base with pre-drilled holes for desk or wall attachment.
