Description
A circular decorative wall plaque or charger attributed to E. W. Usher, likely from the Legendware or Guild Craft Ware series. The piece is constructed from relief-moulded earthenware or chalkware and depicts a traditional rural landscape in high relief. The scene features a large timber-framed watermill with a detailed waterwheel, external stone steps, and a chimney stack. The surrounding environment includes a large deciduous tree, rocky outcrops, and a flowing stream in the foreground. The decoration is hand-tinted in a muted palette of cream, ochre, and brown, with subtle green highlights for the foliage and light blue for the sky and water. No maker’s marks are visible on the face of the item, and the reverse has not been inspected.
