A Crown Ducal Bristol Pattern Blue and White Transfer-Printed Earthenware Plate

A circular earthenware plate featuring a scalloped, wavy rim. The decoration consists of blue underglaze transfer-printed designs in the Bristol pattern, which is a variation of the traditional Asiatic Pheasant motif. The central scene depicts floral sprays with exotic birds, surrounded by a repeating floral and patterned border. The reverse of the plate bears a printed mark in blue underglaze: BRISTOL / Crown Ducal / England / Rd No 762055. This registered design number indicates the pattern was first registered in approximately 1931.
