A collection of illustrated trade cards from a series of 48 titled Balloons, produced by J. Paterson and Son Limited, 6 Melville Crescent, Edinburgh 3. Each card features a colour illustration on the obverse with descriptive historical text on the reverse, credited to artist Royston Cooper. The lot includes card No. 44, Acrobatic Aeronaut, which describes an 1847 event in Naples involving a French acrobat named Mr Guillot. Also included is the original cardboard retail packaging for Buttamunchy Scottish Shortbread, manufactured by the Royal Burch Bakery, Rutherglen, Scotland. The packaging indicates a net weight of 1/2 oz (14 gms) and lists ingredients as flour, butter, sugar, and salt. The items are of Scottish origin and date from the mid-20th century, likely the 1950s or 1960s based on the Edinburgh 3 postal district.
