Description

A collection of five miniature heraldic ceramic vessels by W.H. Goss, each featuring transfer-printed coats of arms or crests and hand-finished gilded rims. The group includes various moulded forms based on archaeological or historical finds, including a thistle-shaped vase with a textured lower body, a small tub with moulded side handles, and several miniature jars and urns. Each piece carries the maker’s falcon mark on the base, along with descriptive text identifying the specific models as an Ashbourne Bushel, a Highland Milk Crogan, an Ancient Urn Found in the Market Place, Doncaster, and a Bowl from the Ancient British Lake-Village near Glastonbury. The crests represent various locations and entities, including Newport Fife, Queensland, Norwich, and the City of Hereford. W.H. Goss was the pre-eminent manufacturer of heraldic porcelain souvenirs during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, known for their fine white body and historical accuracy in model replication. Dimensions variable, miniatures approximately 3cm to 8cm in height.
