Lot 329:
Description
A varied collection of eight silver-plated sugar tongues, primarily dating from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The group features a range of traditional bow-form designs, including examples with spoon, claw, and shell-shaped nips. Decorative motifs across the collection include ornate chased and embossed floral and scrollwork patterns characteristic of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, alongside more minimalist, polished designs. One example is attributed to Wingfield, typical of the period’s domestic serving ware. These pieces were designed for the formal service of sugar cubes within a traditional tea service. Various lengths, approximately 10cm to 15cm.
