Description
A Royal Doulton character jug titled Mine Host, model number D6468. This glazed earthenware jug depicts a smiling landlord with a ruddy complexion, wearing a black tricorn hat that forms the rim and spout. The figure is dressed in a maroon coat with a white and yellow polka-dot bow tie. The handle is modelled as a wooden ale barrel with green hops trailing from the top. The base features the Royal Doulton lion and crown factory mark, the title Mine Host, model number D. 6468, and a copyright date of 1957. It also lists registration numbers Rd No 886230, Rd No 37212, Rd No 7854, and Rd No 389/57. The title Mine Host is incised into the ceramic on the reverse of the base.
