Description
A pair of traditional Scottish taxidermy grouse foot brooches, commonly known as lucky kilt pins. Each brooch consists of a preserved grouse foot with white plumage and dark claws. One brooch features a white metal mount cast in the form of a stag’s head, set with a large oval-faceted purple stone in a multi-pronged claw setting. The second brooch features a plain white metal cap mount set with a similar large oval-faceted deep red-purple stone. Both items are fitted with a simple pin and C-clasp mechanism to the reverse. No maker’s marks or silver hallmarks are visible on the metal components.
Dimensions: Approximately 60mm to 70mm in length.
