A Vintage Chip-Carved Wood Shallow Bowl in the Folk Art Style

A vintage wood shallow bowl or platter, hand-decorated using traditional chip-carving techniques. The interior surface features a central six-pointed rosette motif, surrounded by concentric bands of radiating fan-shaped carvings and repeating triangular borders. The outer rim is finished with a series of small, notched crenellations. The reverse of the piece shows circular turning marks and is finished with a defined foot rim. The style of decoration is characteristic of European folk art traditions, particularly those associated with the Alpine or Carpathian regions. A darkened rectangular mark or adhesive residue is present in the centre of the underside, though no maker marks or inscriptions are legible.
