The metalwork is executed using an embossed or repoussé technique, featuring the word CIGARETTES in raised block capitals set diagonally across the centre. The panel also displays the initials J in the upper-right corner and T in the lower-left corner. The interior of both the lid and base is lined with thin, unfinished wood. The lid is attached via a simple stamped metal butterfly hinge.
