Description
An Edwardian silver-plated egg cruet set by the Birmingham manufacturer Daniel & Arter. The set comprises a rectangular tray base raised on four ball feet with a central looped carrying handle, four matching pedestal egg cups each featuring a single loop handle, and one associated spoon. The tray includes a central rack designed to hold four spoons. The items are manufactured from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS). The underside of the tray base is stamped with the maker’s marks D & A above a globe trademark, the letters E P N S, and the pattern number 5 4 8 3. There are also hand-etched marks reading B 3 7 A and A T. The reverse of the spoon handle features a series of marks including the characters D, &, and A, followed by four pseudo-hallmark symbols in shields and the letters E P N S.
