Lot 26:
Description
This lot features a Stanley No. 4 smoothing plane and a British Leyland corporate automotive emblem. The smoothing plane is a standard woodworking bench tool with a cast iron body, steel blade and lever cap, and wooden handles. The lever cap is chrome-plated and displays the Stanley maker mark in block lettering against a rectangular orange-painted ground. The toe of the cast iron body is marked No 4. The tool retains its original wooden front knob and rear tote handle, as well as a brass depth-adjustment nut and lateral adjustment lever.
The second item is a rectangular metal automotive emblem for the British Leyland Motor Corporation, dating from the late 1960s to 1970s. The plaque features the flying L swirl logo in the centre, with the text British and Leyland running vertically on the left and right sides. The face is finished in blue and silver. The reverse of the emblem is fitted with two threaded mounting studs which retain their original nuts.
