Description
A mid-20th-century mechanical mantel clock manufactured by Smiths in Great Britain. The clock features an arched wooden case with a light-coloured veneer, often referred to as a Napoleon hat or arch-top style, standing on two rectangular block feet. The two-tone dial consists of a central wooden section matching the case, surrounded by a silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and decorative fleur-de-lis motifs at the half-hour marks. The dial is marked SMITHS and MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, and is protected by a convex glass cover set within a brass bezel. The reverse shows a circular metal movement cover stamped with the Smiths brand mark, featuring a regulation slot and a single winding arbor for the spring-driven, time-only movement. A winding key is present.
