A Late Victorian Brass Fireplace Fender with Twisted Rail. COLLECTION ONLY

A brass fireplace fender dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. No maker marks are visible on the surfaces of the item. The object is constructed from shaped sheet brass and features cast decorative corner mounts with acanthus leaf and scroll motifs. These mounts are flanked by beaded borders that extend down the side returns. The front is fitted with an integrated, raised twisted brass rail supported by small brackets. The design is characteristic of British domestic metalware from the turn of the 20th century.
