Description
A collection of turned wood game pieces comprising sixteen natural wood chess pieces, sixteen ebonised chess pieces, and twenty-four circular draughts (twelve of each colour). The chess set is of Staunton pattern, featuring traditional forms including knights with carved manes and rooks with crenellated tops. The draughts are of circular form with concentric ring turned decoration to the upper surfaces. The pieces are constructed from a hardwood, likely boxwood, with one group finished in a dark ebonised stain. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on any of the items.
