Lot 331:
Description
A collection of six miniature ceramic vessels produced by the W.H. Goss factory, the preeminent manufacturer of heraldic souvenir china. The lot comprises various forms including single-handled jugs, a double-handled urn, and a narrow-necked vase, each finished in a smooth white glaze. Every piece is decorated with a polychrome transfer-printed heraldic crest representing a specific British location: Lytham, Hereford, Grasmere, Sandown, Ilfracombe, and Batley. The rims and handles are accented with fine gilt bands. These models were frequently based on ancient Roman or medieval vessels found during archaeological excavations. Heights range from approximately 3.5 cm to 5.5 cm.
