Mid-20th Century Hand Carved Alabaster Ashtray

Attributed to mid-20th century Italian production, this circular ashtray is hand-carved from a single piece of translucent alabaster. The stone is a creamy-yellow colour with natural dark grey and brown veining throughout. The object features a smooth, polished central well and a wide rim with three integrated cigarette rests. The exterior edge of the rim is decoratively carved with a rusticated, rough-hewn finish to provide a contrast with the polished interior and top surfaces. The base is flat and unpolished. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
