Description
A Chinese figural teapot constructed from unglazed reddish-brown zisha clay. The vessel is sculpted in the form of Shoulao, the God of Longevity, featuring a high forehead and long flowing beard. The body of the teapot is integrated into the form of a large peach, a traditional symbol of immortality. The handle is designed as a rustic branch, while the spout extends from the side of the figure. A small animal figure is positioned on the staff held by the main figure. The removable lid is situated on the back of the deity. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible on the base.
