Description

A Royal Worcester fine porcelain commemorative mug produced to mark the marriage of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer on 29th July 1981. The cylindrical vessel features a slightly flared rim, a simple loop handle, and a gilt-lined rim. The decoration is executed in a mulberry-coloured monochrome transfer print. One side displays the Royal Coat of Arms of the Prince of Wales, incorporating the Ich Dien motto. The opposite side depicts St. Paul’s Cathedral, framed by decorative ribbons inscribed with the names of the couple and the wedding date. The base carries a printed black factory mark with a crown above a circular monogram containing the number 51, surrounded by Royal Worcester Fine Porcelain and Made in England text, with a 1981 copyright date. The item is housed in its original blue presentation box with gilt lettering and a circular commemorative sticker.

Condition report:

The mug is in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restoration. The gilt rim is well-preserved. There is a minor linear brown mark on the unglazed foot rim. The original box shows light shelf wear and scuffing to the corners and edges consistent with age.
