Description
A collection of mid-20th-century decorative and functional brass items. The assortment includes several ashtrays in varied shapes, such as scalloped circular and rectangular forms. Featured is a footed lidded vessel with a domed lid and tiered finial, decorated with hand-engraved foliate and geometric patterns. The lot also includes a small footed bowl and a pair of miniature footed chalices. A large decorative skimmer or spoon is present, featuring a circular head with circular piercings and an ornate cast openwork handle with scrolled and geometric motifs. These items are characteristic of brass export wares from India or the Middle East and were common household goods in the UK during the mid-to-late 20th century.
