A Victorian Copper and Brass Hot Water Jug or Oil Cruet

This vessel is constructed from sheet copper, featuring a tapering cylindrical body with a flared base and a raised horizontal rib detail near the bottom. The pot has a hinged, domed lid topped with a brass ball finial and a curved S-shaped spout. A flat copper strap handle is riveted to the body. An applied brass shield-shaped plaque is positioned on the front, engraved with an interlocking script monogram, appearing to be the characters GG or EG. The interior is unlined. The piece follows a traditional design often associated with both hot water service and oil dispensing.
