Republic of China White Metal Decorative Bowl with Silver Yuan Shikai Coin Insert

White metal decorative bowl of circular form featuring a central inset medallion patterned after the 1914 Year 3 Republic of China Yuan Shikai commemorative silver dollar, corresponding to KM# Y-322. The central obverse displays a left-facing profile portrait of Yuan Shikai in military uniform, with Chinese characters for Republic of China and Commemorative Coin of the Republic. The central reverse features the denomination One Dollar within a tied wreath of grain. The wide rim is decorated in high relief with a detailed repoussé and chased scene depicting a dragon and phoenix amongst stylized clouds and flames. The outer edge is finished with a gadrooned border.
